Introduction :- The name of the city Amritsar is derived from two words Amrit which means elixir and Sar which means lake. Amritsar is spiritual centre for sikh community and is also called “ The Golden City Of Punjab”. Spiritual attraction :- The city is famous for its Golden Temple ( Sikh Gurdwara made up of gold ). It was established by Guru Ramdas Ji, the fourth guru and was completed in year 1601 by his successor Guru Arjan Dev Ji. It is the largest Gurdwara in India. Jallianwala Bagh :- Amritsar is famous for its tragic incident of Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919 under the British rule. It is 5 minutes walk distance from The Golden Temple. This memorial was built on the sacrifice of the Indians in the massacre with the British and was inaugurated by the Indian president D.r Rajendra Prasad on 13th April 1961. Now also one can see the bullet holes on the walls and the adjoining buildings. How To Reach :- Air Shri Guru Ramdas Ji airport is the international airport of Amritsar, which is connected with all major cities and countries. Rail Amritsar junction is the railway station of Amritsar which is connected with all major cities. Road - Amritsar is located on Grand Trunk Road, National Highway and connected with all major cities. Delhi is 450 kilometres away from Amritsar.
